Wollensak Verito 11.5″ (292mm) in Studio shutter. This lens is a soft focus lens designed for 8×10. The glass is good front and rear. The shutter works and the shutter lever moves easily. The aperture ring moves easily from f4 to f45 and the aperture works, but one of the aperture blades is slightly out of alignment, yielding an eccentric aperture at smaller stops – see the photo.
This lens is a 3-element design, with one element in the front and a cemented pair of elements in the rear. Wide open, this lens is soft by design, yielding pictorial images and giving a creamy glow, especially to skin. Closed down, this lens sharpens up and turns more “normal.” The studio shutter is manually actuated, so the shutter speed depends on how fast you can move your fingers. The f4 Verito series lenses were released in 1912 and were made up until 1950. Use this lens for flattering portraits and an old-school aesthetic.
